It may not have come as a surprise to those close to her at the time because she used to be a T.V addict. She opened and closed the station with them almost always and could reel off the adverts off hand as they came on.
She particularly enjoyed watching Ruth Benamaisia Opiah who was a presenter in NTA Enugu.
When she came on, she was on Mrs. Elizabeth Okaro's popular programme 'In a Lighter Mood' which was a must watch. It was meant to relieve tension in families in those days of 'austerity' measures.
She also ran continuity and presented programmes under the close supervision of Mrs. Pete Edochie (now a Lawyer), Jika Attoh (new CEO Cosmo FM Enugu), among others.
In 1984 she attended the News Casting and Presentation Techniques course at the NTA TV College Rayfield Jos, when Tom Adaba was the principal and Bode Alalade was one of the key Lecturers.
The same year she gained admission into the University of Port Harcourt and came out 4 years later with a B.A Hons in French. She returned to NTA Enugu having been on study leave those 4 years and continued with her duties as Presenter/Newscaster.
she presented the UNICEF sponsored "EPI Courier" in Igbo which saw them touring many L.G. Areas in the South East States creating awareness on the 6 childhood killer diseases and the need for immunization. she also handled children's live shows for
special children parties organized by the organisation.
However in 1995, she took a break from broadcasting (though at the time she thought she was bidding her goodbye), to attend to her family, but surprisingly 4 years after, saw herself back, this time in Radio Nigeria Enugu. Unlike T.V, Radio affords her the opportunity to move around in-cognito.
She attended the Basic Announcers course at the Radio Nigeria Training School Ikeja Lagos in 2001, when Ilemi Okoka was Head of Presentation. It was a time she particularly enjoyed especially as participants came from across the Federation. Ngozi is indeed a lady of many parts. She had an opportunity to exhibit her acting skills during their send off programme. She has acted in a few
Radio Plays. she has been coming for network chores since 2004.
In Enugu where she's based she runs continuity, presents programmes and reads News. Some of the programmes she has handled are "Concert Hall, 'Spring of Joy'
(music programmes) "the Home', 'Woman's World' (Discussion) etc. she loves writing a lot and has recently been encouraged to let others share what she writes by contributing to "Focus' (after news talk) on her station.
She loves Corporate M.C Jobs which she has been privileged to handle once in a while and looks forward to a time when her knowledge of French will come into use.
She believes in the Power of the Media and looks forward to having a more courageous, focused and sincere team that will help the world find her balance, breaking all barriers to get to the
remotest parts and boldly telling our leaders where they're not getting it right.
she believes strongly her broadcasting career, though almost 20 years now (putting together her time at NTA and FRCN), is just about beginning,as many Ideas are waiting to be birthed.
Ngozi is from Awkuzu, Oyi L.G.A of Anambra State and married to Chuks, a Lawyer from Asaba Delta State. They are blessed with
3 children and live in Enugu, a place she's been for 34 years!
