Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria, Dr. Kayode Fayemi says the number of policemen in the State is too small to provide adequate security for its population.
He stated this in Ado-Ekiti ,the capital , while receiving the New Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for zone 8, Mr. Jonathan Johnson.
Governor Fayemi who noted that Ekiti State was relatively peaceful, said about three thousand police officers on ground were too small to protect the three million residents of the State.
The Ekiti State helmsman assured the new AIG of the continued support of his administration towards a crime free environment in zone 8, which comprises Kogi, Kwara and Ekiti States.
The new AIG for zone 8, Mr. Jonathan Johnson thanked Ekiti State Government for its past assistance in the provision of equipment for the State police command, urging it not to rest on it’s oars.
