Nigerians have been urged to guide against extinction of their native languages which could be used for national development.

A Lecturer at the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria,  Dr. Oyetayo Bankale stated this while featuring on Guest Platform, a Radio Nigeria Ibadan Weekly Programme on Premier FM. 93.5.

Dr. Bankale noted that through the use of the mother language , every individual could be able to contribute their quota to the development of the Nation.

Dr. Bankale recommended that Nigerian languages should be used to conduct School assemblies, debates and seminars.

She enjoined the three tiers of Government to include the use of native languages in their transactions to protect the customs, norms and tradition of the Country.
