Nigerian Communications Commission has restated its commitment to protect consumers from abuses associated with mobile payment policy.

The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Eugene Juwah stated this in Asaba, Delta State at the 67th telecoms consumer parliament.

Dr. Juwah, represented by Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders management, Mr. Okey Itanyi said the commission would ensure security and confidentiality of financial transaction.

The NCC Boss said the policy which is different from internet banking, was aimed at reducing the volume of cash in circulation.

He added that mobile payment system allowed telecom consumers to spend money directly from their mobile money account to pay for goods and services through the point of sale.
