President Goodluck Jonathan has unfolded the three transformation agenda of his administration in the agricultural sector.
They are Agro-input distribution, development of improved seedlings to farmers and Agricultural financing.
The President unfolded this at the opening of this year’s Agricultural Show in Tundun Wada, Nasarawa State with the theme “Towards a sustainable Agricultural Transformation.”
On the occasion, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, who represented the President said under the Agricultural Financing, Central Bank, would collaborate with commercial banks to disburse funds to farmers at single digit interest rate.
Under the Agro-input and seed distribution, government is targeting five million farmers as against five hundred thousand farmers who had been benefiting from government subsidy in agriculture.
He called on farmers to co-operate with the Federal Government in achieving food security for the nation.
In his remark, the President of All Farmers Association Senator Abdullahi Adamu said the show would discuss agricultural transformation agenda and participants would be exposed to modern farming technique.
