In a bid to increase awareness on the game of Tennis, the Oyo State Tennis Association has finalised plans to stage the maiden Ferrotogen U-18 Junior Tennis Championship for upcoming talents in Oyo, Ogun and Lagos States.

The chairman, Oyo Tennis Association, Gbolahan Shoolasaid the tournament, which is for male and female players under the age of 18, is scheduled to hold from 20^th to 24^th September 2011 at the tennis court of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

He stated that the competition would not only help in horning the skills of the tennis prodigies in the South-West region, but help most of them to be in top shape, due to the dearth of tennis competitions.

While stressing the association’s vision to lay a good foundation for the game by developing it right from the grassroots, Mr. Shoola noted that the dearth of competition had been the bane of sports development in the country.
