In South-west Nigeria, the Oyo State House of Assembly has described as a good development the payment of 142 percent arrears to the families of deceased pensioners in the State by the Government.

The House said the gesture would in no small way assist the beneficiaries.

It would be recalled that the struggle for the settlement has been on in the last twelve years following a protest by members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in the State.

Adjourning it’s the sitting to September 4th, this year, the speaker, Alhaja Monsurat Sumonu pointed out that the house had passed twenty-six bills in the last one year.

Alhaja Sumonu added that four bills had sailed through second reading.
