Stigmatization of prison inmates is a contributory factor to increase in criminal activities in the Country.
The Controller General, Nigerian Prisons Service, Mr. Zakare Ibrahim stated this during a familiarization tour of Agodi prison, Ibadan in Oyo State.
The Controller General who urged inmates to be of good behavior said there was still hope for them to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.
The Controller General of Prisons who was on his first visit to Oyo State used the opportunity to interact with staff of the prisons.
The Agodi Prison built in 1894 has a total of 894 inmates out of which 720 were awaiting trial.
